Boston Acting Websites
Looking for websites advertising acting gigs? I found one by Googling “Olive Barrel Productions,” our company. The site is auditionsandcasting.com, and they’ve got a page devoted to Boston area auditions. It looks like they crawl websites (like craigslist) looking for acting-related postings, and then re-post them on their website.
So, for the benefit of our company, and for the actors/filmmakers who visit this site, I encourage anyone to add other Boston area film websites to this post. We’ll sort through them and make a list of Useful Boston Film Sites.

Here’s a link to the Boston craigslist posts for TV/Film/Video: http://boston.craigslist.org/tfr/
It’s one of the most well known, I think, and plus right now it’s free.

There’s also Mandy.com — the Massachusetts link for auditions is nicely laid out, showing when the ad was posted, the production company, the expected duration, and the compensation: http://mandy.com/1/cast2.cfm?t=usma
Are you also looking for independent film company websites? Or what about film events around Boston?

Very good. I’m peeved that craigslist is considering charging a fee. $25 a week for an audition call would hit hard…
Jude, we are interested in sites that help connect filmmakers and actors. One such site is http://NEcasting.com/

Tribe.net has an independent film community here: http://indiefilm.tribe.net/.
Then there’s a specifically Middle Eastern film community at http://iranianfilm.tribe.net/
And although this isn’t specifically film-related, it’s one more place to advertise if you’re looking for Middle Eastern actors: the Turkish American Society of New England (tacsne.org).

Exploretalent.com looks to be another good source, both for actors and for companies. Best of all it’s free and pretty simple to register.
This search link will give you their list of Boston auditions. It looks like there’s an average of 2 a day.
This page, http://exploretalent.com/search2.php, allows you to search Boston area actors & actresses, with precise search criteria.

For what it’s worth, here’s a sites that doesn’t seem useful:
bostoncasting.com. Describing itself as a “full service casting company,” Boston Casting says it specializes in feature films, commercials, and reality shows. And while I can’t judge the merit of the company, the website itself doesn’t offer any networking or directory or listings up front. You’ve got to visit their Boston office for that. Also: should we be wary of a company that offers to “teach” you how to audition for a price?
